Services
We only provide researched and evidence-based treatments at our clinic. Most chiropractors treat the spine, but our office has found that if you do not address the chronic muscle tension, knots and rigidity within the tissues, the spinal adjustments will not be as effective. The muscles will simply pull the spine back out of place, and the condition will never resolve. Additionally, most patients who present to our office with neck or lower back pain also have imbalances in their muscle function and poor posture that we assess at the initial exam. Often times chronic pain is not due to lack of care, but imbalances in muscles that should be supporting the spine.
At Mason Family Chiropractic and Wellness, we have learned over time that each patient may not respond to the same treatment for a given condition. To that end, we use various tools to help aid in this possible dilemma. Below is a list of services offered at our clinic:
Traditional Chiropractic Care
The doctors at Mason Family Chiropractic and Wellness offer traditional Chiropractic techniques that involve adjusting the spine that may cause an audible “pop” or “cracking” sound similar to “cracking” your knuckles. This type of manual therapy has been used for over 100 years, is safe, effective, and has fewer side effects than drugs or surgery. There are more than 70,000 chiropractors practicing in the United States that perform millions of adjustments per year.
Chiropractic Care without the “cracking” and “popping” of joints
In some instances, patients need a softer more gentle approach to Chiropractic Care. To that end, we can provide chiropractic care by utilizing a drop table or instrument to adjust the spine. We will always recommend the appropriate type of adjustments during care to accommodate a patients needs. Do not be afraid to communicate upfront with us what your preferences are.
Cold Laser therapy (FDA approved)
Our cold laser therapy utilizes Multi Radiance Technology™ (MRT) which is DRUG FREE and FDA APPROVED. MRT allows us to deliver the healing power of photons (or light) exactly where treatment is needed. A unique combination of four radiances creates the perfect environment for optimal pain relief and accelerated healing without using any drugs or medications. MRT uses laser light and neurostimulation simultaneously or individually and it is non-invasive.
Ultrasound and EMS therapy
Our office utilizes these treatments to produce faster outcomes for patients. These are two examples of research-based modalities that reduce muscle tension, pain, and spasms in inflamed and irritated tissues. Treatment of this kind reduces a patient’s pain more quickly, normalizes spinal movement, and aids in sleep quality to promote healing and recovery.
Cervical and lumbar decompression therapy
This service helps patients who suffer from chronic neck and back pain because of arthritis, spinal stenosis, sciatic nerve pain, and/or herniated/protruding discs in the neck or lower back. Spinal decompression therapy allows gentle spine and tissue stretching to relieve pressure on compressed nerves and spinal joints. This device is FDA approved and has up to an 80% success rate. Decompression therapy is generally well-tolerated, and in many cases, treatment may reduce the need for surgery or injections.
Rehabilitative services
An important adjunct to chiropractic adjustments is proper rehabilitation of muscles around the spine and other joints in the body. In many cases, the neck/back pain or extremity discomfort that brought the patient in is not the main issue; they are most likely also dealing with a muscle imbalance affecting these joints. Often times a muscle imbalance, not a specific injury, can cause the spine, knee, shoulder, and foot/ankle issues to form. In our experience, if you are only adjusting one specific region but not paying attention to a patients posture, prior injuries (scar tissue), or surrounding areas of weakness/overuse, then once the pain resolves, it will eventually present itself again. Our staff and doctors continually work with our patients to ensure they are performing prescribed exercises and stretches correctly so patients are on the road to healing faster and remain that way.
Nutritional/Supplement Guidance and Consultation
Dr. Mason obtained a Master’s degree in Human Nutrition in 2010, with the intent of helping his patients heal their bodies naturally utilizing targeted supplements and lifestyle changes. Dr. Mason regularly counsels’ patients on digestive issues, fatigue, poor sleeping habits, fibromyalgia, food intolerances, and many other ailments taking a natural approach to getting the body back in balance. Sometimes, outside lab testing is indicated which can be ordered from our office and performed at home. Dr. Mason also gives advice on which supplements to take based on the individuals need. Orthotic Casting
The foot is the foundation of how we walk and balance ourselves in life. It should be no surprise that if a person’s foot has faulty mechanics from prior injuries or the way they developed from birth, it could cause problems later. A common cause of lower extremity and back/hip pain is walking unevenly on your feet. We regularly cast our patients for orthotics to correct faulty foot mechanics and to aid in supporting the spine and other joints in the lower half of the body.
