How to find a good chiropractor

Moving is a part of life – new job, relocation, transfer. It’s a natural process. Finding a new doctor and establishing a new comfort level isn’t as easy. Here are some tips on selecting a Chiropractor:

First, ask your friends and family, as there is nothing that beats a referral from someone you know and trust.  Also, you might want to check out the potential doctor by assessing their Google reviews or other social media outlets.  Finally, asking your primary care medical doctor can be another source of finding a good chiropractor.  In our experience, they only give out names of chiropractors they know and trust for their patients.

Secondly, if you find someone to call, assess the level of friendliness and warmth you feel from the phone conversation. The way a staff acts can sometimes tell you about the demeanor of the doctor in the clinic.

Thirdly, ask to speak with the doctor in a short conversation during a break in the schedule on a particular day. First impressions mean a lot, so use your gut to see if it would be a good fit. We all know doctors are busy, at least we hope they are, but anyone who cannot take the time to talk to a potential patient for 5 minutes, in my mind doesn’t have the focus on helping people. The phone consult is a good chance to ask the doctor how they practice, what techniques they use, and other important questions. Many people have been to a chiropractor before and want to be certain they receive care that is consistent to a previous experience.

Lastly, on the initial appointment or two, see how the doctor treats his staff. Is there an atmosphere of respect, professionalism, and fun, or does it feel like a funeral home?

Most doctors attend school to make a difference in the lives of people they care for. The nature of being in the medical field is also filled with stress, long hours, and frustration at times, but most people can sense if their doctor is with them mentally and physically during the appointment. Remember, we are here for you, and it is our job to put you first. If you feel rushed, or like a number, then start looking for a new doctor.
